FALL OUT BOY’S AFRICAN TERROR

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

Rockers FALL OUT BOY feared for their lives during a charity trip to Africa when local bandits held up their convoy and demanded money. The band visited Uganda in July (07) to raise awareness for the Invisible Children charity, which provides healthcare, education and employment for kids displaced by civil war in the country. Bandmember Pete Wentz says, “There was one moment when I really feared for our lives. We were riding motorcycles and these local guys used barricades to lock us in this little patch of ground. They saw that we were American and thought that we should give them money for being on their ground. When they locked us in, I actually thought, ‘We’re going to die, right now.’ “Luckily we had our guide Kenny to bail us out and pay them off but that was really, really terrifying, living through something like that. It was a real Hotel Rwanda moment. “The whole experience brought our band closer together and that’s a great thing.”

Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz Really Loves ‘Where The Wild Things Are’

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

As a rule of thumb, Pete Wentz is excited about pretty much everything, so when I was talking to him yesterday about Fall Out Boy’s upcoming arena tour — which he’s dubbed the “Young Wild Things Tour,” in a nod to Maurice Sendak’s “Where the Wild Things Are” — it wasn’t exactly breaking news that he was super-pumped to hit the road. But what was rather interesting was just closely he was following the upcoming Spike Jonze/Dave Eggers adaptation of the book (which is tentatively due from Warner Bros next October (see our first look from the film here).

Fall Out Boy’s Fashion Foray for DKNY

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007
FALL OUT BOY bassist PETE WENTZ is known for rocking the airwaves, but now the young musician — who’s recently been seen out and about with ASHLEE SIMPSON — wants to rock the runways.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, Wentz — who started his own clothing line, Clandestine, last year — is teaming up with DKNY Jeans to launch a capsule collection, set to come out in August.

The junior sportswear line includes items that will range from $39 to $298, with graphics that were reportedly inspired by Wentz’s tattoos.

For now, Wentz’s main gig remains music — emo-rockers Fall Out Boy released their most recent album, Infinity on High, in February, and are set to tour the States this May.

Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz Shuns Spotlight

Monday, July 30th, 2007
Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz has vowed to keep quiet over his private life after his naked photo humiliation last year. Wentz was experimenting with prescription medication when revealing pictures were published online - and the experience has taught him to safeguard his privacy.

He says, “I’ve been so candid in the past, and it’s burned me. I used to speak without a filter, but I ended up in hot water. I can barely remember those years. I was taking prescription medication; I was a drugstore cowboy, mixing this with this, seeing what the combinations did. I couldn’t picture myself in two years. People would ask, ‘What are you going to do on the next record?’ And I’d say, ‘Dude, I can’t even see myself being alive.’”

‘Simpsons’ targets Fall Out Boy

Monday, July 30th, 2007
Fall Out Boy are being lined up for a guest appearance in The Simpsons, according to reports.

The show’s creator Matt Groening told XFM: “Any band that names itself after a character of the Simpsons will eventually get on it. So, Fall Out Boy, stay tuned.”

The emo rockers claim to have come up with the name after asking audience members at one of their live gigs to shout out suggestions.

Fall Out Boy is the sidekick of Radioactive Man, a popular comic character loved by Bart Simpson in the series.

Groening was speaking at the premiere for The Simpsons Movie, which includes an appearance by another rock band - Green Day. The television show has also featured in the past acts such as The Who, Kid Rock, Tom Jones and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

AKON

Monday, July 30th, 2007
Akon, having already covered Fall Out Boy’s “The Take Over, The Break’s Over,” says he would now like to collaborate with Pete Wentz’s band. Given both artists’ fondness for royal rumbling with audience members, it sounds like a match made in WWE heaven.
